Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

International students whose native language is not English, need to take an English language proficiency test. This test must be taken before admission. Therefore, every student (both undergraduate and graduate) must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The TOEFL is designed to test the general English language abilities of students who have learned English as a second or foreign language.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a three hour examination designed to test the English skills of students whose native language is not English. Successful completion of the TOEFL is a prerequisite for admission for all foreign applicants (whose native language is not English) by most American Colleges and Universities. Whether you are interested in undergraduate, graduate or professional study in the United States, you will probably be asked to prove your understanding of spoken and written English on the TOEFL. You will be tested in written and tape recorded questions that measure reading comprehension, written expression, grammar mastery and listening skills.
